Facials & Skin Treatments in Porirua

Skin is personal. Two people can walk in with what looks like the same concern and need completely different treatments, which is why every skin journey at Rise starts with a complimentary consultation rather than a booking form. We look at what your skin is actually doing, talk through what you want to change, and build a plan around it — not around whatever we happen to be promoting.

YOUR VISIT

Your visit, step by step.

  1. Before your first visit

Come with clean skin if you can, and bring the products you currently use — or photograph the labels. Knowing what is already on your skin tells us more than almost anything else. Allow an extra fifteen minutes on your first visit for a consultation and consent form.

  2. During the treatment

We cleanse, assess your skin under a good light, and talk you through what we are seeing before anything else happens. Every step is explained as we go. If something is uncomfortable, say so — the treatment adjusts to you, not the other way round.

  3. Afterwards

Most facials leave the skin a little pink for an hour or two. Resurfacing treatments such as peels and dermaplaning can stay flushed for longer. You will leave with written home-care advice and a clear idea of when to come back, if you need to at all.

AFTERCARE

A little care, afterwards.

  • Wear SPF 50 daily for at least a week after any resurfacing treatment — this matters more than any product you buy.
  • Skip the gym, sauna, spa pool and hot showers for 24 hours.
  • Leave the skin alone. No exfoliants, retinol or acids for five to seven days unless we have told you otherwise.
  • Do not pick or scrub any flaking. Let it shed on its own.
  • Drink water and expect your skin to look its best around day three to five, not on the day.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Who this isn’t suitable for

Tell us about any of the following when you book and we will adjust the treatment or recommend something better suited. If you are unsure, ask — that is what the complimentary consultation is for.

  • Active cold sores, impetigo or any broken or infected skin in the treatment area.
  • Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) use in the last six months — resurfacing treatments are not safe until well after you finish.
  • Recent laser, IPL, injectables or another peel in the past two weeks.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding — several actives are not suitable, though plenty of gentler options are. Tell us and we will adjust.
  • Known allergy to any ingredient we use. Bring the details and we will patch test.
  • Uncontrolled skin conditions such as active eczema, psoriasis or rosacea flares in the treatment area.

QUESTIONS

A few things you might ask.

Something else on your mind? Contact the team.

How often should I have a facial?

For general maintenance, every four to six weeks tracks your skin's natural renewal cycle. If you are working on a specific concern such as congestion or pigmentation, a shorter course of treatments spaced two to three weeks apart usually gets there faster, and then you drop back to maintenance.

What is the difference between dermaplaning and microdermabrasion?

Dermaplaning uses a sterile blade to remove dead surface skin and fine vellus hair, so makeup sits noticeably smoother afterwards. Microdermabrasion resurfaces mechanically without removing hair, and suits congested or textured skin better. Both are gentle enough for a first visit, and we will recommend one over the other after looking at your skin.

Will a chemical peel make me peel visibly?

Usually far less than people expect. Most clients get light flaking around the nose and chin for two or three days rather than dramatic shedding. We start conservative on a first peel and build strength only if your skin handles it well.

Do you treat men's skin?

Yes, and a good share of our clients are men. The Men's Deep Cleansing Facial and Beard Facial are built specifically around shaving irritation, ingrown hairs and congestion along the jaw and neck.

Do I have to buy products?

No. We will tell you what would genuinely help and what you can skip, and we are just as happy telling you your current routine is fine. Founding clients get 20% off retail skincare during the soft launch if you do want to buy.
