Spray Tanning in Porirua

A spray tan should look like you have had a good week away, not like you have been dipped. We apply by hand, adjust the depth of colour to your natural skin tone, and pay attention to the places that give a bad tan away — hands, feet, elbows and knees.

IS THIS FOR ME?

Care, shaped around you.

Weddings, events, holidays and photoshoots, plus competition tanning for bodybuilding and fitness athletes, which is a different depth of colour and a different application entirely.

COMING SOON

We’re still setting up spray tanning, so it can’t be booked online yet. Get in touch and we’ll let you know when it’s ready.

YOUR VISIT

Your visit, step by step.

  1. Before your appointment

Exfoliate and shave or wax at least 24 hours beforehand, not on the day. Arrive with completely clean skin — no moisturiser, deodorant, makeup or perfume, all of which stop the tan taking evenly. Wear loose dark clothing and bring flip-flops.

  2. During the treatment

The application takes about fifteen minutes in a private room. You will be asked to hold a few positions so the solution reaches evenly. Barrier cream goes on hands, feet, elbows and knees, which are the areas that grab colour.

  3. Afterwards

Dress straight into loose dark clothing. Leave the tan to develop for the time we specify — usually six to eight hours — then rinse in lukewarm water with no soap. The colour continues to deepen for around 24 hours.

AFTERCARE

A little care, afterwards.

  • Do not shower, swim or sweat until the development time is up.
  • First rinse in lukewarm water only — no soap, no scrubbing.
  • Pat dry with a towel rather than rubbing.
  • Moisturise daily from the day after. A hydrated tan fades evenly; a dry one goes patchy.
  • Avoid long hot baths, chlorine and exfoliating products, which strip colour fast.
  • Expect five to seven days of good colour, then a gradual fade.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Who this isn’t suitable for

Tell us about any of the following when you book and we will adjust the treatment or recommend something better suited. If you are unsure, ask — that is what the complimentary consultation is for.

  • Known allergy to DHA, the active ingredient in all spray tan solution. We patch test on request.
  • Asthma triggered by aerosols — tell us and we will discuss whether this is workable.
  • Broken, sunburnt or irritated skin, or an active eczema or psoriasis flare.
  • Waxing, shaving or exfoliating within 24 hours before the appointment.
  • Pregnancy — DHA is not absorbed systemically in any meaningful amount, but check with your midwife if you would rather be certain.

QUESTIONS

A few things you might ask.

Something else on your mind? Contact the team.

How long does it last?

Five to seven days of good colour for most people, then a gradual fade over another few days. Daily moisturising is what makes the difference between an even fade and a patchy one.

Will it look orange?

Not if the depth is matched to your skin. We choose the solution based on your natural tone rather than applying the same thing to everyone, and we would rather go one shade lighter and build than overshoot.

When should I book before an event?

Two days before is the sweet spot. That lets the colour settle and gives you time to fix anything you are not happy with. Same-day tans can look flat in photographs.

What is different about a competition tan?

Considerably darker, applied in multiple coats, and formulated to read correctly under stage lighting. It is not a look you would wear day to day.
